چکیده

Abstract Glycophyte biomass-derived biochars are currently concerned in most studies. However, little attention is given to the characteristics of halophyte-derived biochars. In this study, five typical halophytes euhalophytes ( Suaeda altissima , salsa and Kalidium foliatum ), recretohalophytes Phragmites australis pseudohalophytes Tamarix chinensis ) which widely distributed arid semiarid regions northwestern China were selected for producing with a slow pyrolysis process at 500 °C 1 h. The harvested characterized elemental content, pores, surface area, charges, then their potential value as soil conditioner was evaluated. results showed that had variable ash Na + contents, ranging from 7.26 23.64% 1.06 33.93 g kg ?1 respectively. EC ranged 1.76 23.45 mS cm . biochar derived very low specific area (SSA), 3.50 m 2 while (B PA high SSA, 344.02 All carried both positive negative charges. KF possessed more SA contained general, halophyte higher content lower point zero net charge (PZNC) value, compared glycophytes, would imply an acidic conditioner.

Removal of Dimethyl Sulfide from Aqueous Solution Using Cost-Effective Modified Chicken Manure Biochar Produced from Slow Pyrolysis

This study investigated the characteristics of using a cost-effective, amine-modified biochar (BC) derived from chicken manure for removing dimethyl sulfide (DMS) from an aqueous solution. The amine-modified BC showed much higher adsorption of DMS compared to commercial activated carbons under varying conditions of contact time, initial concentration, and adsorbent dosage. The DMS removal effic...

Production and characterization of Biochar from Various Biomass materials By slow Pyrolysis

Biochar is the carbonaceous solid product of biomass pyrolysis which can be used as chemical feedstock for various purposes such as energy production, and adsorption of pollutants. In particular, application of biochar to the soil is gaining greater interests, which can reduce fertilizer consumption, increase crop yields, and sequestrate carbon. This study compares the characteristics of biocha...

Influence of Carbonization Temperature on Physicochemical Properties of Biochar derived from Slow Pyrolysis of Durian Wood (Durio zibethinus) Sawdust

The objective of this study was to explore the influence of pyrolysis temperature on the physicochemical properties of biochar synthesized from durian wood (Durio zibethinus) sawdust. Surface morphological features, including the porosity and BET surface area of biochars, provide appropriate dimensions for growing clusters of microorganisms with excellent water retention capacity in soil. Oxyge...

Estimating Profitability of Two Biochar Production Scenarios: Slow Pyrolysis vs. Fast Pyrolysis

We estimate the profitability of producing biochar from crop residue (corn stover) for two scenarios. The first employs slow pyrolysis to generate biochar and pyrolysis gas and has the advantage of high yields of char (as much as 40 wt-%) but the disadvantage of producing a relatively low-value energy product (pyrolysis gas of modest heating value). The second scenario employs fast pyrolysis to...
